Competition Team

1)      Auditions Saturday Sept. 29th at 6:15 pm

2)      Students must have completed at least one year of dance.

3)      Students must take as many core classes as possible. Ballet and tap is required. Jazz is required for all students 9 and older. Pointe, Modern, and Acrobatics are strongly recommended.

4)      Must attend at least one dance convention a year.

If you are accepted to the competition team you are required:

1)      To attend all rehearsals. Rehearsals will be on Saturday and Sunday. Once you have committed to the team you may not miss any rehearsals or competitions. Please be 15 mins early to all rehearsals.

2)      To participate in one large studio team number and at least one small group number. This will be my choosing. You may, and are encouraged to, participate in as many group dances as possible. Only you can decide how much time and money you can commit to the team. Solo’s are upon request. No first year competition team member may have a solo unless at my request

3)      To pay all fees’ including rehearsal fees, choreography fees, costume fees, and entry fees before competing. I will not pay your money for you.

I have not made a decision on which competitions we will attend.

We normally attend 3 regionals and 1 nationals.

I would like to attend DTU in addition to our 3 regionals and a convention.

Entry fees vary from competition to competition but generally

Solo’s $65           Duo/trio $30 each         Groups $26 each

Rehearsal fee will vary depending on the amount of time needed.

Rehearsals fees are approximately $100 per dance.

There will be an additional rehearsal fee for summer rehearsal before Nationals.

Choreography for a dance will cost no less than $125

To be divided by the dancers in that piece.

Last year, 2007, the cheapest person was right at $700, the most expensive was $1330.

This included entry fees, rehearsal fees, chorography fees, and costumes.

This does not include hotel, food and travel expenses.
