The Moscow Ballet's Great Russian Nutcracker

Moscow Ballet Nutcracker Cancelled. It is my understanding that the Moscow Ballet production of Nutcracker in Jackson MS has been cancelled. I believe this is because of a lack of corporate sponsorship. There is some talk of our students performing in a performance in Hattiesburg MS. They will let us know more after auditions are held in Hattiesburg on Oct 28. We are suspending our rehearsal until we hear more from them. • The Moscow Ballet has scheduled a performance of the Great Russian Nutcracker for Jackson in December. They were originally scheduled to perform in New Orleans and Biloxi, but had to cancel.

• Every year, they use local dancers in background roles. The auditions for the local dancers were held on September 19 with the Moscow Ballet coordinator, Natalia Polyakova. Choreography and Master Classes took place Monday through Wednesday, September 19th-21st.

• Rehearsals will be conducted weekly on Saturday and Sunday between now and the day of the performance. The rehearsal location will be Miss Debra's studio in Vicksburg and possibly at studios in the Jackson area.

• The performance will take place on December 4, 2005 at the Thalia Mara Hall in Jackson.
