Important Nutcracker Note

Nutcracker is drawing near. We have all worked so hard and now we really have to kick it in to high gear. I know the rewards will be well worth the effort. I have seen such improvement in these students already.

Christmas is such a busy time of year. I understand that you have a lot of other things going on, as do I. I respect you the parent for the wonderful gift you are giving your child thru this production. I understand that this is a big commitment not just for the dancer, but also for the parent and entire family. There are so many lessons being learned here besides dance, life skills that they will need as adult. And I applaud you.

Tickets are on sale now. They are reserved seating and must be paid for at the time of purchase. Tickets are purchased through Miss Dorothy. 601-634-6116. Please call her to reserve seats and to find out when she will be at the studio.

Videos and pictures will be available. You may order a video at the performance. Pictures will be done differently this year. Butch Meyn will take action pictures during the performance and posed pictures on stage or in the lobby before, during intermission and afterwards. These pictures can be printed at the performance and taken home with you that day.

We are working on T-shirts now. They should be no more than $20. Please place your order. I am sure that they will look wonderful and everyone will want one. They will not be available after the performance. An order must be placed. Don’t forget to get one for yourself.

Nutcracker is a big production and I cannot do this without your help. I need lots of volunteers. I don’t know what your expertises are, but I’m sure I can use all of you. If you have a special skill please let me know.

I need help setting up the scenery. This will probably begin the Tuesday before the show in the evening time. Randy Jolly is in charge of this. He is a wonderful volunteer. I could never afford to pay him what he is worth. We need all types of help. We need Dads, Moms and kids. We need people to wad up newspaper and sprinkle glitter, people to run to Wal-mart, hang scenery, screw candy canes and flats together, a multitude of things. Some simply, some not. I can assure you dads it’s a lot better to be helping and a part of the show than just being in the audience. And if any one know anything about lighting that would be an extra plus.

I need help now from people who sew. We have costumes that need mending and altering. I would prefer that the costumes stay here. But if you could sew while your child is in class that would be great. Some of the costumes will need to be ironed. We will do all of that at the theater Friday. I will need for some one to bring an Ironing board and Iron, and maybe a sewing machine. If any one has racks to hang costumes on we could use those. I don’t think there is anything in the theater since the fire. Not even chairs in the green room.

I need people to decorate the lobby.

I need people to take care of and organize concessions.

I need parents in the green room and dressing room to help the children dress, stay calm, and to get them onstage in time. This is not just stay with your child. In fact it would be best if you worked with a different group than your own. If you know of students that need service points this would count toward that.

There will be a cast party after the show Sunday. I need some one to organize this. Everyone needs to bring something good to eat or drink.

I need help getting everything down and back to the studio that Sunday night. The Theater must be left spotless.

I need people to take care of things so that I can teach your child to dance, and about the theater.

We will have rehearsal for everyone Sat 9, Sun 10, Fri 15 and the morning of Sat 16. Rehearsal the 15 & 16 is a t the theater. It will be long and cold. Our show is Sat 16 and Sun 17

I will teach a class on Saturday the 10th (check the schedule for times) on hair and make-up. You are responsible for your own make-up, tights, shoes and undergarments.

Mice, soldiers, and Polichinelle wear black shoes, everyone else wears pink.

Soldiers and Polichenelle wear black tights everyone one else wears pink Leo’s brand.

Polichinelle need a black leotard. It should not show.

Please wear the shoes you will be dancing in to all future rehearsals.

Please encourage children to be quite and calm, especially at the theater.

Thank you so much.

I am so loving working with your children.
