Dance Recital Etiquette

Please remember to limit your movement and the noise in the auditorium.

It is not necessary to come back stage as soon as your child dances. In fact no one except my staff should be back stage during the performances. I assure you we will keep a close eye on your child. All the younger students are in the last number of their Act and need to stay in line.

Your child sits with you in the Acts that they are not in. Please keep them still. We need them in their seats not dancing in the aisles, especially during and at the end of Act VI (and maybe the end of Act I). Costumes are not worn in the auditorium. Not even with a big shirt over it. It is very important part of the learning process for the younger students to watch the older students.

All hair should be worn in a ballet bun for all dances, even competition team that might have worn their hair different at competition. This will help speed things up in the dressing rooms. There is a dressing room for fast changes. We will help them change.

Please make every effort to go to the rest rooms and Concessions during the intermissions. There will be an intermission after each Act. There will be concessions Saturday and Sunday. Please support our competition team, Concessions will not be sold while the students are dancing. Please do not bring food or drink around the costumes.

All of the students have worked very hard and I am very proud of them. I see a major improvement in them. Please sit back, watch, and enjoy all of them.

Please clap. Do not yell out students name. Do not encourage your children to wave. Please clap.

Please no flowers are gifts at the auditorium. I feel strongly about this. If you would like to present something to your child please do it at home or away from the theater.

No Flash Photography. Please Turn Off Cell Phones.

We will have a professional videographer, Butch Meyn. He did our videos for Mistletoe. We were pleased with his work. Videos will be $30.

This year we will do awards in the middle of the show after act VI. All students are encouraged to come on stage for awards. All will receive a happy but not a trophy. (trophies had better come in today.) As soon as we can get everything going after awards we will do act VII.

Please clean up after your self and others when you leave. I have to pay a fee if we leave the auditorium a mess.

Thank you for your help and cooperation. I have truly enjoyed working with your children and watching them grow as a dancers and a people. Thank you for sharing them with me.
